GOSPEL NUGGET # 62

Ro 3:9 "...all under sin."

All are under sin. Every single child of fallen Adam find themselves in this position. This is our position by nature in God's eyes.

Think of it this way: All are under gravity. Everything we do, 24/7, is affected by gravity. Not only that, everything in us, from head to foot, is affected by it. No matter how we wish to soar to the skies, gravity pulls us down.

All are under sin, everything we do is affected by it so that in God's eyes "there is none righteous", "there is none who does good, no not one." (Rom. 3:10,12). Not only that, everything in us is affected by sin: spirit, soul and body--from head to foot (Rom. 3:13-18). No matter how we wish to be in heaven when we die, sin pulls us down.

Fallen man naturally thinks that if he improves his condition, he'll pull himself out of this position. But no amount of reformation, self-improvement methods, good works and religious activities on our part can shake us out of this position. In fact, under this position, all our good works are filthy rags (Isa. 64:6), all our religious activities are dead works (Heb. 9:14).

We came to be under this position by natural birth and the only way out of it to a new position under grace is the new birth. And we can only become born again if we place our trust in the Savior.
