GOSPEL NUGGET # 27

Ro 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...

The apostle Paul was confident of the Gospel because of his conviction of it: "It is the power of God to salvation..."

The word "power" here means supernatural, miraculous and divine power. It takes supernatural, miraculous and divine power to be saved. It takes the power of God to save us from the wrath of God. That is one of the reasons why our good works can never save us. Our good works are not supernatural. Neither are they miraculous nor are they divine.

Our sins are so indelibly attached to us that only the supernatural, miraculous and divine power of God can blot it away. It took supernatural, miraculous and divine power to create creation; it will certainly take supernatural, miraculous and divine power to create a new creation. And salvation is being a new creation in Christ.
