1 Co 2:2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

The writer of these words was the apostle Paul. It was written to Corinthians in Corinth where Greek philosophy was dominant and highly-esteemed.

Paul was a man of great learning, but when he came to Corinth, as in everywhere else, he resolutely and purposely decided not to talk about anything else except the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross.

Why? He knew that philosophy or education cannot save and therefore transform a sinner. Salvation can only be possible through Christ and what He did on the cross. Education may reform a sinner but only the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ can transform a sinner.

Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ now and what He did on the cross for your salvation and you will be saved and transformed.

GOSPEL NUGGET #391

"Anyone Who Is A Friend Of My Daughter Is My Friend"

A loving mother uttered those words to the friends of her daughter who came over to visit her in the hospital. That gave me a Gospel Nugget to write about.

The way to her heart is through her daughter. "Anyone who is a friend of my daughter is my friend."

And it's just the same way with salvation. You see, the way to the Father is through the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He Himself said: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

If you want salvation, come to the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son. Trust in Him and what He did on the cross for salvation. Be God's friend through faith in Christ Jesus.

Zeal For God Does Not Save

Ro 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

Zeal for God doesn't save a sinner. You can be hot, zealous and on fire in serving the Lord and still remain unsaved. Your service is just filthy rags if it isn't the fruit of salvation.

These Jews, Paul attests, have a zeal for God but they are not saved. Zeal saves no one. Zeal is not the Savior, you should know. Salvation is found in Christ and what He did on the cross.
Yup, you are not saved by YOUR zeal for Him, rather, you are saved by HIS zeal for you when He died on the cross for you. It doesn't mean that we are not to be zealous for God. No, we should. Zeal has its proper place. But we are not to trust in it for our salvation. Rather, we are to trust in the Savior and what He did on the cross in order to be saved.
