GOSPEL NUGGET # 38

1Jo 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Propitiation is the most important concept in the Bible when it comes to salvation. All spiritual blessings hang upon this blessed concept.

What does it mean?

Let's keep this simple. When you think of propitiation, think of the word satisfaction. God was propitiated or He was SATISFIED with the work of Christ for our salvation. God is a holy and just God and His holiness and justice demand to be satisfied. God cannot look on sin tolerantly. He just can't brush our sins under the rug and simply forget about them without His holiness and justice satisfied. God's wrath against us must be appeased, His justice and holiness must be upheld.

Yes, Christ died for sinners, but, He died for God first of all.

When Christ died on the cross for all our sins, it was there that God's wrath, justice, and holiness were satisfied eternally. Without God being satisfied, there is no forgiveness, no salvation, and no spiritual blessing that would flow toward any sinner.

My friend, God is satisfied with Christ's death on the cross for your salvation, so should you. Trust what He did on the cross for your salvation.
