GOSPEL NUGGET # 32

Ac 20:21 "testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God..."

Ac 8:22 "Repent therefore of this your wickedness..."

Job 42:6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes."

Ac 13:38 "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 "and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Repentance means a change of attitude. A sinner must change his attitude towards God; he must take God seriously.

He must also change his attitude towards sin; the sin that he loved he must now hate and despise.

Not only must he change his attitude towards God and sin, he must also change his attitude towards self; he must realize that he is helpless and hopeless in himself to save himself.

And lastly, repentance means a change of attitude towards Christ; he must now trust in Christ alone and what He did on the cross for his salvation. Before, he trusted in his good works, good character etc. for his salvation, now he must trust in Christ alone.

In Acts 13:38-39, the apostle Paul, after striving and endeavoring to convince the Jews to change their attitude concerning Christ (Acts 13:16-37), gave the climax to his sermon saying in effect: "Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation."
