GOSPEL NUGGET # 61

Heb 9:22 ...without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Without air man cannot breath. Without food man can never survive. Without water man cannot live. In the same way, without the shedding of blood man can never be forgiven.

Sin's penalty must be paid. And the penalty of sin is death. Christ Jesus shed His blood for man's forgiveness. The forgiveness of a sinner's sins is not cheap. It is not God being lenient, it comes at a very costly price. Before He forgives, Someone must die.

And so any sinner seeking forgiveness of sins must come to the fountain where the blood has been shed. It is at the Cross of Calvary where the Savior died.

You see, God forgives not on the basis because you ask for forgiveness, not because you did many good works, not because you are prayerful, not because you go to church regularly. No! It is because Christ shed His blood on the cross. Why?

Because "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."
