GOSPEL NUGGET # 56

Ga 2:21 "...if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain."

If a sinner can be accounted as righteous in God's eyes by keeping the Law, the Ten Commandments, then Christ threw His life away. Calvary would be a complete waste.

His death on the cross would be rendered totally  unnecessary. We don't need a Savior who will die on the cross for our sins if we can just save ourselves anyway, in the first place. But Christ did not die in vain. His death was vital and essential. For no sinner can be saved by keeping the Law because no one can obey it perfectly.

We are not saved by our imperfect obedience to God. Rather, we are saved by what God has done for us in Christ.
