GOSPEL NUGGET #6

Mt 14:30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"

31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him...

Notice three things here: "he saw", "he was afraid" and "he cried out".

He saw his desperate situation. He realized the danger he was in ("he was afraid"). And he called ("he cried out") on the Lord for salvation and immediately the Lord saved him.

What happened here is a perfect illustration of spiritual salvation. Man is hopeless and helpless in himself to save himself. It is only when man sees and realizes his spiritual condition that he will realize his need of the Savior.

And calling upon Him in faith, salvation takes place...not gradually by and by, not in a process of time but "immediately."
