GOSPEL LIGHT #3

Col 1:12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

It is God who qualifies us, it is He who makes a sinner fit to be a partaker of the inheritance of God's people.

In the issue of the salvation of our souls, we can never make ourselves fit for heaven. It is not our work to make ourselves fit in order to be in His presence, we can only do so imperfectly. Our good works, our religious efforts, our sacrifices etc. can never do it.

It is His gracious work in the person of His blessed Son who died for our sins that qualifies a sinner. Because of God's redemptive work in the Cross of Calvary, the sinner who trusts in the Savior has all his sins forgiven and has God's righteousness imputed to him. Thus, making him fit or qualified to be with God and enjoy Him forever in heaven.

Without the Savior, all of us are disqualified and unfit to enter His holy presence.
