GOSPEL NUGGET # 89

Ex 14:21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.

From one side to the other. From enslavement to emancipation. From bondage in Egypt to freedom with God. From being slaves of Pharaoh to being servants of God. It was all made possible because God parted the sea and they safely crossed and came to the other side.

The sea was a picture of Christ, who became our way to God. Pharaoh and Egypt were a picture of bondage to sin and Satan in the world. We are all slaves of sin, living in the world subject to Satan. But through Christ's death and resurrection, a sinner is made to pass from slavery to sin to being a bond-servant of God.

The Lord told Paul his mission: "...I now send you to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me --Jesus." (see Acts 16:17-18)

The moment a sinner trusts in Christ Jesus, he is then united to Christ that Christ's death became his death and His resurrection became his resurrection unto newness of life. Positionally, he has died to the slavery of sin and is now resurrected to serve God.
He steps down into His death on one side and comes out to His resurrection on the other.
