GOSPEL NUGGET # 83

Ga 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree")

A young lad was walking leisurely in a park, unaware of the heist in a bank that took place across the road. Two men suddenly emerged out of the bank and opened fire at the police cars positioned nearby.

A volley of gunfire ensued, and bullets pierced the air mad. People scrambled to the nearest shelter they could find. The young lad swiftly darted behind a large tree. As the spray of bullets filled the air, a stray bullet addressed "to whom it may concern" lodged itself at the tree just at the height of his head.

Shaking and trembling, he clung to the tree for dear life until the hostilities had ceased. Then he stepped out and surveyed the tree. He saw the bullet hole and realized that if not for the tree, he would have been dead. With deep gratitude, he pulled out his pocket knife and carved on that tree: "God bless this tree. If not for this tree I would have died. This tree took the bullet that should have been for me."

My friend, there is nothing we can do that can stop the curse and the wrath of God from hitting us. But Jesus took it all on Him on Calvary's cross. Are you, by faith, hiding behind the tree of Calvary, behind the Man who took it all for you?
