GOSPEL NUGGET # 91

RO 7:18 ...I know that nothing good dwells in me...

Ro 7:24 O wretched man that I am!...

Lu 18:13 "....'God, be merciful to me the sinner!'"

We are not prepared to side with God against ourselves in self-judgment and seek His mercy until we have seen ourselves as to who we are in God's sight---that apart from His grace, we are no good and wretched sinners.

It is only the man who has realized his no-good and wretched condition before God that realizes his need of the mercy and grace of God in Christ Jesus. When God saves a man, He reveals two things to him---what he is before God and what Christ is to him.

You will never truly be needing the grace of God in Christ Jesus if you have not seen yourself as a no-good and wretched sinner that you are.
