True Story
A haughty lady came up to a preacher after hearing him preach and asked: "I have never experienced that which you call, 'drinking the water of life.' How is it got?"
Eyeing intently his proud inquirer, the preacher replied: "By stooping down. Stoop down and drink, and live."
The reply did not please her and so she turned away. She was too proud to stoop down.
That which should have been the easiest thing for us to do has become the most difficult. To stoop down and take the sinner's place, to realize and admit that we are sinners helpless and powerless to save ourselves, to humble ourselves should be easy for people who are already down there.
But because of pride, people who are already down there find it hard to realize and acknowledge that they are indeed already down there.
The offer of free salvation is offered DOWN by God for us sinners. If we take the high place, we would miss it.
Christ Jesus came to save sinners DOWN there. Not for good people UP there. In the eyes of God, there are no good people, all are sinners in need of salvation.
